Robin Luo (Luo Bing) was born in Dalian in the far Northern coastal region of China. His family moved to Hangzhou (home of the legendary West Lake and world renowned for its green tea and fine silk), near the central coast of China, near Shanghai while Robin was in junior high school. From an early age, Robin was exposed to several distinct styles of Chinese cuisine and local foods.

Robin attended college in Hangzhou majoring in English. Upon graduation, Robin went to work for China Travel Service as a tour guide. He traveled to most of China's provinces including Tibet and the Vietnam Border with English and non-English speaking tourists from all over the world.

In 1992, Robin decided to obtain his masters in the culinary arts abroad and was accepted into the University of Houston's graduate program at the Conrad Hilton Hotel School. After receiving his master's degree, Robin managed a number of Houston restaurants over seven years and learned a great deal.

In 1998, Robin met his future wife at one such establishment and found that he and Judy had much in common. They were soon married and opened China View in 1998.

Each year, Robin and Judy travel to China and bring back new antiques, jewelry and other items of interest for the restaurant. Double sided embroidery from Suzhou, Tibetan jewelry, folk art farmer's paintings, tea pots and other items are available for sale or can be custom ordered as well. They also bring back many ideas for new dishes from each region we visit which our customers appreciate as it keeps the menu new and exciting.
